Two Pro-Gun Advancements Making Progress in Arizona!

Today, the Committee of the Whole passed Senate Bill 1243 with no amendments and Senate Bill 1113 with only the NRA-backed amendment. Two hostile amendments were defeated thanks to the help from our strong supporters in the Senate. Both bills now head to the Senate floor for a third reading on Monday, June 15.

SB1243, sponsored by State Senator Russell Pearce (R-18), would clarify the statutory definition of defensive display of a firearm. This clarification of defensive display of a firearm is a valuable addition to your right to self-defense.

SB1113, introduced by State Senator Jack Harper (R-4), would give concealed carry permit holders the right to take concealed handguns into restaurants that serve alcohol, provided they are not consuming.

Please take the time to thank the Senators who supported these bills. Also, we would like to show our appreciation to our strong allies and strong NRA supporters, State Senators Jack W. Harper (R-4), Jonathan Paton (R-30), and Steve Pierce (R-1). Their effort to help our cause was essential and the passing of these bills could not have happened with out them. Arizona: Senate Judiciary Committee to Hear Two Pro-Gun Bills!

On Monday June 8th two very important pro-gun bills head to the Senate Judiciary Committee. It is vital that we communicate and respectfully express our desired support of these two bills.

Senate Bill 1243, sponsored by State Senator Russell Pearce (R-18), would clarify the statutory definition of defensive display of a firearm. This clarification of defensive display of a firearm is a valuable addition to your right to self-defense.

Senate Bill 1113, introduced by State Senator Jack Harper (R-4), would give customers the right to take concealed handguns into restaurants that serve alcohol. State Senator Jack Harper (R-4), the restaurant industry, and NRA have worked to craft new language that will be used in place of the currently proposed posting requirements, which will have to be added as an amendment in committee. Over 30 states currently have restaurant carry provisions. In 2005, the Arizona legislature passed a restaurant carry provision, which was vetoed by previous Governor Janet Napolitano. Just this week, Tennessee passed legislation enabling permit holders to carry a firearm for self-defense in restaurants that serve alcohol.

Please contact the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and respectfully urge them to support SB 1243. Also, please ask them to support SB 1113 with the NRA-backed amendment. The appropriate contact information can be found below.

Higher Taxes Coming to Arizona

If you are concerned about the Gov. Jan Brewer trying to raise taxes in order to fix the budget crisis, read on.

Dear Arizona Taxpayer,

Gov. Jan Brewer is trying to get the Arizona Legislature to send a tax increase proposal to the ballot.

The proposal would increase state taxes by a billion dollars a year for three years.

In the middle of a recession.

At a time when many families are already struggling financially and when many businesses are already laying off workers and cutting back on production.

PLEASE CONTACT GOV. BREWER TODAY and tell her you think raising taxes on families and businesses during a recession is a BAD IDEA.

Please send Gov. Brewer a quick email, or better still, leave her a phone message, and ask her to start listening to taxpayers, and to stop listening to the political consultants and fixers who have given her such bad advice.

Contacts for Gov. Brewer’s communications office are:

Email: psenseman@az.gov Phone: (602) 542-1342

APRIL 15th, TIME TO ACT

This Wednesday is the big day - the April 15th Tea Parties to protest the uncontrolled government spending, bailouts, higher taxes and socialistic policies.

Unite at the Arizona Tea Party!
The government continues to spend hand over fist, taking a bigger and bigger slice of our money and our children’s and grandchildren’s future earnings. Americans are starting to understand that these huge special interest projects and programs create severe economic burdens on American families which threaten their livelihood now and into the future.
